We work with people who often fall between larger services. Because we are local and small, we can respond quickly and personally.

Our story

Started by neighbours, still run by neighbours

MMire Foundation was set up in 2011 by a group of families in Bow, East London who wanted to help both their own neighbourhood and the places their families came from. We were first known as C A Foundation, and later as Chomak Ali Foundation, before taking our present name.

We are a small charity with no paid staff. Our trustees give their own time, and money raised goes straight into the practical help people ask us for — a school bursary, a food parcel, a repaired water point.

We are registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under number 1143786, and our accounts are published on the public register.

Charity history

New leadership for the next chapter

Mohamed Abdi Mire has taken over as Chairman of MMire Foundation, bringing more than two decades of leadership experience in the health and social care sector to the charity he helped found.

As CEO of Care Solution Bureau CIC (CSB) and The Social Care Ltd, Mohamed leads strategic and operational direction across the health and social care sector, overseeing a workforce of more than 600 staff. His work spans East London, North London, West London and Liverpool, working hand-in-hand with local authority and community partners.

His leadership approach is person-centred, outcome-focused and collaborative — built on safe care, effective governance, workforce development, and supporting people to achieve dignity, independence, wellbeing and choice. These are the same values he now brings to MMire Foundation.

Mohamed's expertise covers health and social care leadership, workforce management, quality assurance, safeguarding, contract delivery, business development and multi-agency partnership working — experience that strengthens how the charity is run and accountable to its supporters.

Our home base in Bow. We run food, study and wellbeing programmes right on our own street, supporting children, older people and people with disabilities.

Where your money goes

We have no offices to pay for and no salaries. Costs are limited to the small fees any registered charity has to meet, so gifts reach people almost intact.

  • School costs — fees, books, uniform and exam charges paid directly to the school where possible.
  • Water and repairs — parts and labour for community water points in drought-affected villages.
  • Emergency relief — food, blankets and fuel during a crisis or a hard winter.

We are a very small charity. Our latest filed accounts show a modest annual income, so even small gifts change what we can do in a given year.
